a year in the thinking

020

Up to this point, the primary business focus for Simply Stated Designs has been custom design - collaboratively bringing to life our client’s unique vision for their special occasion. With a strong desire to express my own personal vision, individuality and style, the idea of designing a wedding invitation line was one that I have pondered for nearly a year.

Inspiration certainly did not come easy. It was essential that the designs have a common thread running through each of the invitation suites. This is where I became incredibly perplexed. I wasn’t married to one flower or one pattern or straight lines or branches or birds. Should the designs be simple and clean or bold and colorful? I searched outdoors, in nature. I perused magazines on a regular basis. I daydreamed during long car rides attempting to memorize the landscapes. I talked about it – a lot – with close friends. What would it be? What would be my common thread? I desire it all!

And then, it happened. Inspiration materialized. There it was. My beautiful, vintage, colorful, clean, bold, simple, complex… quilt. A beautiful piece of artwork that had it all. Its beautiful, eclectic design is the inspiration behind the New England line.

Two weeks, and over one hundred hours of design time, a total of eight wedding invitation suites have been conceived. Beginning in a few days, I will reveal one suite a day. I hope you love them as much as I do!
